Rescue of Abducted Oyo Pupils: Alausa Hails Tinubu, Security Forces, Makinde, Vows Safer Schools By Beauty Akporido Aroh

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from the Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing the operation as a major victory for the nation’s security architecture and a strong demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting Nigerian children.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Ikharo Attah, the minister praised the coordinated efforts of the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and security agencies, saying their collaboration ensured the victims were rescued unharmed while the perpetrators were apprehended.

Alausa expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for providing decisive leadership throughout the rescue mission, noting that the President remained committed to ensuring that every possible measure was taken until the abducted pupils and teachers regained their freedom.

The minister also lauded Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for working closely with security agencies and providing sustained support throughout the rescue operation, including efforts aimed at the rehabilitation and reintegration of the rescued victims with their families.

He further applauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security and intelligence agencies for their professionalism, bravery and seamless coordination, which culminated in the successful rescue without harm to the victims.

According to Alausa, the operation reflects the Tinubu administration’s unwavering determination to safeguard the lives of Nigerians while strengthening cooperation among all levels of government in tackling insecurity.

“The successful rescue of these innocent children and their teachers is a moment of great relief for the nation. It reflects the determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to protect the lives of Nigerians and demonstrates the growing effectiveness of collaboration among the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and our security agencies,” he said.

He added that the collective efforts of the security agencies had restored hope to the affected families and reassured Nigerians that government institutions remain resolute in confronting criminality.

The minister sympathised with the rescued pupils, teachers and their families over the emotional trauma they experienced during their captivity and prayed for their quick physical and psychological recovery.

Reaffirming the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to ensuring safer learning environments nationwide, Alausa said the ministry would continue working with relevant stakeholders to strengthen school security in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also called on parents, communities, school authorities and other stakeholders to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies in protecting schools across the country, stressing that safe schools are essential for effective teaching and learning.
