Ododo Strengthens FRSC with 10 Electric Patrol Bikes, Named Kogi Special Marshals Patron By Raymond Enoch

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured a major boost to its road safety campaign as Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, donated 10 electric patrol motorcycles to the Corps and formally accepted a strategic leadership role as Patron of the FRSC Special Marshals in Kogi State.

The landmark event, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Lokoja, underscored a growing partnership between the Kogi State Government and the FRSC aimed at reducing road crashes, improving emergency response and strengthening traffic management along one of Nigeria’s busiest transport corridors.

The investiture of Governor Ododo was performed by the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, who described the governor’s acceptance of the honorary role and his donation of the patrol motorcycles as a clear demonstration of visionary leadership and commitment to protecting lives on Nigerian roads.

The newly donated electric patrol motorcycles are expected to improve the Corps’ operational mobility, enable quicker deployment of personnel, enhance traffic enforcement and support faster emergency response operations across the state.

Receiving the motorcycles on behalf of the Corps, the Corps Marshal said the intervention represents more than a donation of equipment, describing it as a strategic investment in safer highways and a stronger road safety architecture for Kogi State.

He noted that the support would significantly enhance the operational effectiveness of the FRSC, particularly in a state that serves as the gateway linking Nigeria’s northern and southern regions and records heavy vehicular movement throughout the year.

Governor Ododo dedicated his investiture as Patron of the Special Marshals to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acknowledging what he described as the President’s unwavering commitment to strengthening institutions responsible for protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s determination to continue partnering with federal agencies to improve public safety, promote responsible road use and reduce preventable road traffic crashes across Kogi State.

The event attracted government officials, FRSC management, members of the Special Marshals, traditional leaders and other stakeholders who commended the renewed collaboration between the state government and the Corps.

Road safety experts say the deployment of electric patrol motorcycles could improve operational efficiency, particularly in congested urban areas and locations that require rapid access during emergencies, while also supporting environmentally friendly public service operations.

The latest collaboration further highlights the FRSC’s strategy of deepening partnerships with state governments, corporate organisations and community-based volunteers to build a more responsive and sustainable road safety system across Nigeria.
