APC NLA Backs Radda’s Sports Drive, Hails Katsina Emir on Heritage Preservation By Raymond Enoch

The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has commended Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, for his sustained commitment to sports development in the state.

Kankia also lauded the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness, Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, for his efforts to preserve the historical, cultural and traditional heritage of the Katsina Emirate.

The APC chieftain made the remarks while extending his goodwill to participants and stakeholders in the 2026 polo season, wishing players safe, successful and competitive matches throughout the season.

He described Governor Radda’s support for sports as a significant contribution to youth development, noting that sustained investment in the sector provides opportunities for young people to discover, develop and showcase their talents.

According to him, sports should not be viewed solely as a platform for competition, but also as an instrument for promoting discipline, unity, teamwork and positive youth engagement.

Kankia equally praised the Katsina Emir for his commitment to sustaining the historical traditions and cultural values of the emirate, describing heritage preservation as a collective responsibility to present and future generations.

He said the combination of vibrant sporting activities and the preservation of cultural heritage could strengthen Katsina’s identity, promote tourism and ensure that the state’s rich history remains relevant to younger generations.

While congratulating participants in the 2026 polo competitions, the APC National Legal Adviser urged the players to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, discipline and fair play.

He wished all the polo players and stakeholders safe matches and a successful 2026 season.

Kankia’s commendation comes amid increasing recognition of sports and cultural activities as important tools for youth empowerment, tourism development, community engagement and the promotion of Nigeria’s diverse heritage.

He expressed optimism that continued government support for sports, coupled with the sustained preservation of Katsina’s historical and cultural values by traditional institutions, would further enhance the state’s visibility and contribute to its overall development.
