FG Debunks Monguno School Attack Rumour, Assures Parents of Students’ Safety By Beauty Akporido Aroh

The Federal Government has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Monguno, Borno State, was attacked, assuring parents and guardians that all students and staff remain safe.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade, the Federal Ministry of Education described the reports as baseless and capable of creating unnecessary panic among parents and the public.

The Ministry stated categorically that no attack occurred at the college, stressing that academic activities, boarding operations, and other school programmes are continuing normally under adequate security.

Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the safety and welfare of students in all Federal Government Colleges, noting that FGGC Monguno operates under robust security arrangements designed to protect learners, staff, and school facilities.

The Minister also clarified that the individuals reportedly affected in the incident being circulated online were remedial students outside the Federal Government Girls’ College, adding that the Borno State Government is already taking appropriate steps to ensure their safety and welfare.

The Ministry urged media organisations, bloggers, social media users, and the general public to verify information through official and credible sources before publishing or sharing reports, warning that the spread of unverified information fuels fear, erodes public confidence, and undermines efforts to provide safe learning environments.

It further appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm, insisting that there is no security threat at Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies, state governments, and school authorities to safeguard all Federal Government Colleges nationwide while promising to continue providing timely and accurate information through its official communication channels.
