TCN Begins Sagamu Transformer Maintenanc, target two 30MVA transformers to improve network reliability By Raymond Enoch
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced a two-day annual preventive maintenance exercise at the Sagamu Transmission Substation in Ogun State, with electricity supply to some customers in the area expected to be affected during the exercise.
According to TCN Management, the maintenance, which began on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and will continue on Friday, September 4, is aimed at conducting routine checks on the T1 and T2 30MVA, 132/33kV power transformers to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the transmission equipment.
The exercise is scheduled to run for seven hours each day, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
TCN said the maintenance will affect electricity supply to customers of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) supplied through the T1 transformer, including customers in REAL and Sagamu.
Similarly, customers supplied through the T2 30MVA, 132/33kV transformer—including CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique and Babcock—are expected to experience interruptions on Friday during the maintenance period.
The transmission company explained that the preventive maintenance is necessary to enable its technical crew to carry out routine inspections and checks on the transformers, with the broader objective of sustaining equipment performance and strengthening the reliability of electricity transmission.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the exercise, stressing that the maintenance is part of its efforts to ensure reliable operation of the transmission network.
