In a swift and coordinated operation, officers of the Nasarawa State Police Command have busted a notorious car snatching syndicate and recovered a stolen vehicle—less than 24 hours after it was taken at gunpoint in Enugu State.

The dramatic arrest took place around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025, along the Doma-Lafia Road. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives from the Doma Division intercepted and apprehended four suspects believed to be part of a highly organized car theft network.

Those arrested include:
Ibrahim Dahiru, 30, from Angwan Rogo, Jos, Plateau State,
Abdulrazaq Muhammed, 27, also from Angwan Rogo, Jos,
Muhammad Sani, 28, from Potiskum, Yobe State,
Mustapha Isah, 23, from Misau, Bauchi State

According to police sources, the suspects allegedly conspired to carry out a violent carjacking in Enugu State, where they snatched a black Toyota Venza (registration number KWL 668 GN, Abuja) at gunpoint. However, their escape plan quickly unraveled thanks to rapid intelligence gathering and efficient inter-state police collaboration.

The stolen vehicle was recovered in Nasarawa State, intact.

Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, praised the operation as a major milestone in the Command’s fight against organized vehicle theft. “This success underscores the importance of timely intelligence and seamless collaboration across state lines,” he said. “We remain committed to bringing every criminal element to justice.”

CP Mohammed also commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, assuring the public that the police will continue to prioritize the safety of lives and property across the state.

While the suspects are currently in custody, investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and identify any accomplices or additional stolen vehicles connected to the case.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the development and urged citizens to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities.

The successful bust not only disrupted a major car theft operation but also reinforced growing confidence in the Nasarawa State Police Command’s ability to act swiftly and decisively against crime.
