Oloyede Commissions JAMB Mega CBT Centre Donated by Borno State Government By Beauty Akporido Aroh
The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, on Wednesday commissioned the Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre (PRC) in Maiduguri, a state-of-the-art facility donated by the Borno State Government to strengthen computer-based examinations and registration services across the North-East.
Prof. Oloyede, who was accompanied by the incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, described the project as a landmark investment in education that would significantly improve access to tertiary education for thousands of candidates in the region.
Built on a 5,300-square-metre expanse of land, the ultra-modern centre is fully fenced and landscaped, with uninterrupted power supply provided through a newly installed 300kVA transformer.
The main office complex houses eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration areas, and 16 convenience facilities, providing a conducive environment for administrative and registration activities.
The facility also boasts two Computer-Based Test (CBT) halls, each equipped with 275 computers, enabling the centre to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily during examination periods.
To enhance candidates’ comfort, the centre includes two spacious waiting halls with a combined capacity of 500 candidates, alongside six additional convenience facilities.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on February 24, 2026, and the project was completed in less than six months, ahead of the timeline set by the state government.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Prof. Oloyede expressed profound appreciation to Governor Zulum for what he described as a visionary and transformative investment in education. He noted that the facility would ease the burden on admission seekers across the North-East by providing world-class examination and registration infrastructure closer to them.
He further praised Governor Zulum’s unwavering commitment to educational development, noting that members of the JAMB delegation had visited several of the state’s smart schools and were impressed by the administration’s deliberate efforts to make education the foundation of sustainable development.
The incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, also lauded Governor Zulum for fostering a productive partnership with JAMB. He expressed optimism that the strong collaboration between the Board and the Borno State Government would continue to deepen, enhancing educational opportunities and institutional development.
In his address, Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue prioritising education as a strategic tool for addressing the state’s social and economic challenges. He disclosed that the state government invested over ₦1 billion in the construction of the mega CBT centre, stressing that the long-term benefits of expanding access to quality education far outweigh the financial cost.
The Governor said the facility reflects his administration’s commitment to building modern educational infrastructure capable of supporting academic excellence, expanding access to tertiary education, and preparing young people for future opportunities.
The commissioning of the mega CBT centre marks another milestone in the partnership between JAMB and the Borno State Government, reinforcing ongoing efforts to improve examination services and educational infrastructure in Nigeria’s North-East.
