In a strategic move aimed at strengthening public trust and enhancing the image of the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).

The appointment, announced on Wednesday, marks a new chapter in police-public engagement, with expectations high for CSP Hundeyin to bring a blend of academic rigour and field experience to the national stage.

A distinguished officer with a rich portfolio, CSP Hundeyin holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Lagos State University and a Master’s degree in Legal Criminology & Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. His professional development also includes a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre in Jaji, Kaduna State.

Hundeyin is widely regarded as a seasoned communicator and is affiliated with multiple prestigious professional bodies. He is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a Member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).

Before his current appointment, Hundeyin served as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Lagos State Police Command, where he became a recognizable face in the media and a bridge between the police and the public. He has also held key roles as the PPRO at Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, and as the Administration Officer in the Force Public Relations Department at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. In 2020, he represented Nigeria in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID), further solidifying his credentials in international policing and diplomacy.

The Inspector-General has tasked CSP Hundeyin with revamping the Force’s public relations strategy, ensuring a proactive, transparent, and citizen-friendly approach to communication. His appointment is seen as part of broader reforms aimed at improving the operational efficiency and public perception of the Nigeria Police Force.

CSP Hundeyin officially takes over from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who has served in the role with distinction and now hands over the baton.
