TCN, NISO Deepen Strategic Collaboration to Strengthen National Grid By Raymond Enoch

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Kano Region, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) as both organisations intensify efforts to enhance the stability, reliability and efficiency of Nigeria’s electricity transmission system.

The renewed commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the Managing Director of NISO, Engr. Abdu Muhammed Bello, to the TCN Kano Regional Office, where he was received by the General Manager (Transmission), Kano Region, Engr. M. K. Bello, alongside the region’s management team.

Receiving the NISO delegation, Engr. M. K. Bello described the visit as another milestone in the enduring partnership between the two critical institutions in Nigeria’s power sector. He commended the NISO Managing Director for the agency’s consistent support and prompt response whenever operational collaboration was required.

According to him, the strong working relationship between TCN and NISO has continued to foster seamless coordination in system operations, which remains essential for maintaining grid stability and improving electricity supply across the country.

The TCN Regional General Manager assured NISO of Kano Region’s readiness to sustain the partnership by providing the necessary operational support to advance the objectives of Nigeria’s ongoing electricity market reforms.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of NISO, Engr. Abdu Muhammed Bello, expressed appreciation to the TCN Kano Region for formally handing over the former regional office facility to NISO, describing the gesture as a significant milestone that reflects the cordial and mutually beneficial relationship between both organisations.

He stressed that effective collaboration between the transmission network operator and the independent system operator is indispensable to safeguarding the national grid, noting that seamless coordination remains the cornerstone of a secure, reliable and efficient electricity system.

Engr. Bello reaffirmed NISO’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with TCN, saying both organisations share a common responsibility to strengthen grid operations, improve system reliability and enhance electricity service delivery for Nigerians.

The visit further underscored the growing institutional synergy between TCN and NISO as stakeholders continue to consolidate reforms aimed at delivering a more resilient and efficient power sector capable of supporting Nigeria’s economic growth.
