TCN Announces 3-Hour Power Disruption in Kubwa, Bwari Over Maintenance By Raymond Enoch
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a three-hour power interruption in parts of Abuja as it carries out annual preventive maintenance at the Kubwa 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The notice, signed by the Management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on September 29, 2026, said the exercise would take place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as part of efforts to maintain the reliability and stability of the transmission network.
TCN said the annual preventive maintenance would focus on the Gwarimpa-Kubwa 132/33kV Line 1 bay switchgear and associated equipment.
The company explained that, consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take power supply to customers in parts of Kubwa, Bwari and environs during the maintenance period.
Electricity consumers in the affected communities are therefore expected to experience a temporary interruption in supply while the maintenance work is being undertaken.
TCN said the intervention was necessary to ensure the continued reliability and operational efficiency of critical transmission equipment.
The transmission company appealed to affected consumers to bear with the temporary disruption and apologised for any inconvenience the maintenance exercise may cause.
