Nigeria’s Agriculture Minister, Abubakar Kyari, Named IFAD Governing Council Vice- Chair

Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, has been appointed as the Vice-Chairperson of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Governing Council.

The announcement was made during the 48th session of the IFAD Governing Council at its headquarters in Rome, Italy.
The session, presided over by IFAD President Mr. Alvaro Lario, focused on the theme “Catalysing Investment at the 1st Mile.”
IFAD’s Governing Council, the highest decision-making body for its 180 member states, plays a crucial role in shaping global agricultural policies and initiatives. Each member country is represented by a governor and an alternate.
Kyari’s appointment marks a significant milestone for Nigeria’s agricultural sector, reinforcing the country’s role in global food security and rural development.
