German Consulate in Lagos Announces Holiday Closure of Visa Services By Raymond Enoch
The German Consulate in Lagos has announced a temporary closure of its Visa Section as part of the 2025 end-of-year holiday observance, a move that will affect visa applicants and travelers planning engagements during the festive period.
According to the official notice, the Visa Section will be closed from Monday, 22 December 2025, and will resume operations on Monday, 5 January 2026. During this period, visa-related services, including submissions and processing, will not be available.
The announcement comes as the year draws to a close, a time traditionally marked by increased travel and cross-border engagements between Nigeria and Germany. Applicants have therefore been advised to plan accordingly and adjust their travel and documentation timelines to avoid inconveniences.
The Consulate extended warm seasonal greetings to the public, wishing Nigerians and the international community a Merry Christmas and a fruitful New Year, underscoring the spirit of goodwill and renewal that accompanies the festive season.
Visa applicants and stakeholders are encouraged to monitor official communication channels of the German Consulate in Lagos for updates and further guidance ahead of the reopening in January 2026.
As the holiday season ushers in reflection and celebration, the temporary closure marks a brief pause in diplomatic consular activities before services resume in the new year.
