FRSC Promotes Over 10,000 Personnel in Largest Digital Exercise to Boost Career Progression By Raymond Enoch
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has conducted its largest-ever technology-driven promotion exercise, advancing more than 10,005 personnel across the country in a move aimed at strengthening career progression, staff welfare, and institutional development.
According to a statement signed by Osondu Ohaeri, Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters, Abuja, on June 19, 2026, the promotion exercise covered 3,597 Intermediate Rank Officers and 6,408 Junior Officers, making it one of the biggest in the history of the Corps.
The statement said the exercise was conducted under the leadership of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, who deployed modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platforms to ensure a transparent, credible, fair, and inclusive process for all eligible personnel.
It noted that the digital approach eliminated administrative bottlenecks, improved operational efficiency, and guaranteed equal opportunities for officers to compete based on merit, competence, and performance.
To ensure compliance with established guidelines, the promotion exercise commenced across the Corps’ 12 Zonal Commands on June 14, 2026, with monitoring cameras deployed to oversee the process. Representatives of the Corps Marshal supervised the exercise, while observers from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Federal Character Commission monitored proceedings to ensure adherence to the Corps Promotion Policy and the Federal Character Principle.
The FRSC also introduced remote participation for personnel undergoing academic and professional training outside Nigeria. Through the ICT platform, officers studying abroad were able to take part in the promotion exercise without interrupting their educational programmes.
The Corps said the initiative reflects the Corps Marshal’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible personnel is denied career advancement because of geographical location or pursuit of further education.
The statement added that the promotion exercise aligns with the Corps Marshal’s vision of building a highly motivated, professional, and technology-driven workforce where hard work, innovation, diligence, and excellence are recognised and rewarded.
It further stated that under Shehu Mohammed’s leadership, the FRSC has continued to implement reforms focused on personnel welfare, institutional capacity building, and the use of technology to improve service delivery, adding that the successful promotion exercise reinforces the Corps’ commitment to creating a modern organisation capable of delivering safer roads for all Nigerians.
