The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Training and Development (DTD), Isyaku Mohammed, on Friday led a comprehensive operational assessment of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, charging officers to uphold discipline, professionalism, accountability and community-centred policing in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

Receiving the DIG and his delegation at the Command Headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, **Olatunji Rilwan Disu>. He highlighted recent operational successes, strengthened community partnerships and the Command’s resolve to align its operations with global best practices in modern policing.

Addressing officers, DIG Mohammed said the operational tour was undertaken on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to assess the security architecture and operational readiness of Police Commands across Zone 7.

He explained that the exercise is aimed at evaluating existing policing strategies, identifying operational gaps and recommending reforms that will enhance efficiency, improve service delivery and strengthen policy-driven policing throughout the Zone.

The DIG urged officers to remain disciplined, professional and respectful of the rule of law, stressing that civility, accountability and quality service to the public are fundamental to effective policing. He further charged commanders and frontline personnel to faithfully implement the Inspector-General’s directives while embracing internationally accepted standards and human rights-based policing.

Community representatives from across the Federal Capital Territory commended the Inspector-General for institutionalising regular operational assessments and deploying senior police leadership to engage directly with officers and residents. According to them, the initiative is deepening public confidence, promoting constructive dialogue and reinforcing collaborative efforts to improve security across the FCT.

The visit also featured an interactive session during which officers and community stakeholders raised key security concerns and operational challenges. In response, DIG Mohammed and the Command leadership discussed practical measures to improve intelligence gathering, patrol effectiveness, rapid response capabilities and community engagement.

The operational assessment concluded with a renewed commitment by the Police leadership and community stakeholders to work together in advancing a safer and more secure Federal Capital Territory, while a group photograph was taken to commemorate the visit.
