APC Rolls Out Six Days Free Medical, Surgical Outreach in Taraba to Honour Nentawe Yilwatda at 58 By Raymond Enoch
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a three-week statewide free medical and surgical outreach across Taraba State to commemorate the 58th birthday of its National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, with thousands of residents expected to benefit from comprehensive healthcare services under the party’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The humanitarian initiative, which commenced on Monday, August 3, 2026, at different locations across three Senatorial District is aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare for vulnerable and underserved communities through free medical consultations, laboratory investigations, medications, specialist care, health education, and surgical interventions.
Paradigm News crew who witnessed one of the locations at the First Referral Hospital, Sunkani, in Ardo Kola Local Government Area of Taraba North wrote that medical teams began attending to patients at about 12:00 noon as the first phase of the exercise got underway simultaneously in designated secondary healthcare facilities across the state.
The first phase of the outreach will run from August 3 to August 7 at selected secondary health institutions, while the official flag-off ceremony will take place on August 8, coinciding with Professor Yilwatda’s birthday, at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, by 10:00 a.m.
The phase, scheduled for August 8 to August 22, will shift to tertiary healthcare institutions where advanced specialist consultations and surgical procedures will be conducted at the Federal Medical Centre and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, both in Jalingo.
Residents are receiving a broad range of healthcare services, including free medical consultations, laboratory investigations, health screening, specialist care, medications, wound management, emergency medical support, patient counselling, health education, as well as free and subsidised surgical procedures for patients requiring specialist interventions.
To ensure equitable access across Taraba State, healthcare personnel have been deployed to strategic medical facilities in all three senatorial districts.
In the Southern Senatorial District, the exercise is taking place at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, and General Hospital, Takum. Beneficiaries in the Central Senatorial District are being attended to at General Hospital, Bali, and General Hospital, Gembu, in Sardauna Local Government Area. In the Northern Senatorial District, services are available at Bambur General Hospital in Karim Lamido Local Government Area and the Primary Health Care Centre, Sunkani, in Ardo Kola Local Government Area.
The outreach is being implemented in collaboration with the Taraba State Ministry of Health and the Libertad Health Foundation, reflecting a strategic partnership focused on improving healthcare delivery, reducing the financial burden of medical treatment, and promoting preventive healthcare among residents.
Organisers said the programme embodies the APC’s commitment to translating the Renewed Hope agenda into practical social interventions capable of improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians through accessible and affordable healthcare.
The campaign is being driven under the theme, “Healing Lives, Restoring Hope, Building Healthier Communities,” while promoting the messages “Free Medical Services for All,” “Together We Celebrate Life and Service,” and “Renewed Hope, Better Health, Stronger Taraba.”
The official flag-off on August 8 is expected to attract top government officials, political leaders, development partners, healthcare professionals and community stakeholders.
Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, is expected as the Guest of Honour, while Agbu Kefas will serve as host.
The outreach forms a major highlight of activities marking Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe’s 58th birthday, with friends, associates and supporters sponsoring the initiative as a legacy project that combines celebration with humanitarian service, reinforcing the APC National Chairman’s commitment to compassionate leadership, improved healthcare access and community development.
