Historic Coronation: Fintiri Crowns Gadiga as Mbege Ka Michika

In a grand style and a historic ceremony, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State presented the Staff of Office to Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga, installing him as the Mbege Ka Michika.
The event, held in Michika, was marked by cultural displays, speeches, and a strong call for unity and progress.

Governor Fintiri described the coronation as a significant milestone in recognizing the rich cultural heritage of the Kamwe people and reaffirming the role of traditional leadership in fostering development.
“The creation of Michika Chiefdom is not just a response to the people’s request but a strategic step to harness the immense human and natural resources of this region,” Fintiri stated.
The governor urged the people of Michika to embrace unity, emphasizing that their vast wealth, strong educational background, and diverse talents should be channeled into the development of the chiefdom.

“The Kamwe people have a historical legacy of resilience, commerce, and governance dating back to the 15th century. Their industrious nature and contributions in various fields, including academia, civil service, and commerce, must be preserved and strengthened,” he noted.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to development, Fintiri outlined key efforts to improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture across Adamawa State, including Michika. He underscored the importance of peace and collaboration in achieving sustainable growth and pledged continuous support for traditional institutions.
Addressing his political opponents, Fintiri reiterated his administration’s dedication to delivering results.
“We will not be distracted by critics whose primary objective is to sow seeds of disunity under the guise of political maneuvering,” he declared.
The governor also recognized the presence of esteemed traditional rulers at the event, commending their role in upholding cultural values and strengthening communal ties.
In his acceptance speech, the newly installed Mbege Ka Michika, Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga, expressed deep gratitude to the governor and the people for entrusting him with the throne. He pledged to work closely with the state government to promote peace, unity, and economic development in Michika.
“My commitment is to foster growth in education, agriculture, and economic empowerment for our people,” Gadiga assured.
Speaking on behalf of the Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, the Wali Adamawa, Abdulkadir Mbamba, reaffirmed the Emirate’s support for newly created chiefdoms and emirates in the state. He emphasized the need for fairness, peace, and unity in governance.
Mbamba also addressed recent social media controversies regarding a statement made by Governor Fintiri in Madagali, clarifying that all district heads affected by the creation of new emirates and chiefdoms must relinquish their previous titles as part of the restructuring process.
The grand event concluded with the official oath-taking by Professor Gadiga as the Mbege Ka Michika, administered by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.
The coronation, attended by dignitaries, governors traditional rulers, and community leaders, marked a new chapter in Michika’s history, reinforcing the role of traditional leadership in fostering unity, cultural heritage, and development.
