TCN Restores Power on Aba-Itu 132kV Line After Nine-Hour Outage By Raymond Enoch
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored electricity supply through the Aba-Itu 132kV Transmission Line following the successful completion of repair works on the affected transmission facility.
The restoration, according to TCN, was achieved at about 7:02pm on Tuesday, after its technical crew completed work on the red-phase cut jumper conductor on Tower 142.
The fault had resulted in a temporary interruption of electricity supply from 10:38am to 7:02pm, affecting electricity distribution to several communities within the operational area of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC).
With the restoration of the transmission line, PHEDC can now resume full off-take of electricity for onward distribution to its customers in Uyo, Eket, Ekim and Itu, which were affected by the outage.
TCN said its intervention was necessary to enable its crew safely carry out the required repairs and restore normal transmission service to the affected areas.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected locations for the inconvenience caused by the temporary outage, assuring that supply has now been restored through the Aba-Itu transmission corridor.
The development is expected to enable PHEDC to progressively restore normal electricity distribution to customers within the affected areas.
