UNICAL Strengthens Quality Control Framework with a New Deputy Director Appointment. By Raymond Enoch
The University of Calabar, Nigeria has strengthened its commitment to academic excellence and institutional standards with the appointment of Dr. Achi Bekomson as Deputy Director, Quality Assurance.
The appointment underscores the university’s ongoing efforts to entrench robust quality control mechanisms across its academic and administrative structures.
According to a release issued by the Public Relations Unit of the University of Calabar, the appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Offiong Offiong. The letter stated that Dr. Bekomson’s appointment is for a period of two years in the first instance, running from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027.
In his new role, Dr. Bekomson is expected to work directly under the Director of Quality Assurance, collaborating closely on all matters relating to institutional evaluation, standards compliance, and performance improvement, with the goal of ensuring optimal results for the directorate.
The university noted that, like all key appointees of the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Bekomson is expected to fully align with the mission and vision of the University of Calabar, while upholding its core values and institutional expectations.
Her appointment is seen as a strategic move to further enhance accountability, quality delivery, and continuous improvement within the university system.
