The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, mni, has declared 2026 as a year of renewed commitment, professionalism and improved service delivery, warning that misconduct, indiscipline and unprofessional conduct will no longer be tolerated in the Corps.

The declaration was made during the *first parade of the year*, where the Corps Marshal addressed Officers and Marshals nationwide, stressing that discipline, unity and professionalism remain the core identity of the FRSC.

He reminded personnel that every officer on patrol represents the image of the Corps and operates under constant public scrutiny, adding that any decline in civility, discipline or service standards would attract strict sanctions.

Describing patrol teams as the frontline ambassadors of the FRSC, the Corps Marshal charged them to be courteous, transparent and fair in their dealings with the motoring public, while remaining guided by the Corps’ values of timeliness, service orientation and professionalism.

Shehu Mohammed disclosed that the 2026 Corporate Strategic Goals of the FRSC have been approved and circulated, directing all formations to align their operations with clearly defined initiatives, actionable plans and performance-based job binders.

On security, he urged officers to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times, both on and off duty, in view of rising threats such as kidnapping, robbery and banditry, stressing that prevention remains better than reaction.

The Corps Marshal also emphasised staff welfare and wellbeing, encouraging personnel to prioritise their health through regular medical checks and enrolment in approved health plans, noting that healthy officers are key to effective service delivery.

Outlining management’s priority areas for 2026, he listed smarter operations, faster emergency response, improved supervision and public engagement, zero tolerance for corruption, enhanced welfare support and firm protection for disciplined and committed officers.

He further announced sustained welfare interventions, including continuous training and capacity building, merit-based promotions, increased approvals for further studies, timely payment of salaries and allowances, renovation of command accommodations, improved deployment practices, better access to medical care, strengthened cooperative schemes and prompt settlement of insurance claims.

The Corps Marshal issued a strong warning against extortion, abuse of authority, incivility and all acts capable of damaging the image of the Corps, calling on Commanding Officers at all levels to mentor their subordinates and lead by example.

He concluded by urging officers and marshals to remain hopeful, innovative and focused, expressing confidence that 2026 would be a landmark year for the Federal Road Safety Corps.
