Guinea-Bissau 2025 Presidential Elections Under Watch as ECOWAS Mission Hails “Calm, Orderly and Transparent” Polls.

The ECOWAS Election Observation Mission (EOM) has given a strong early endorsement of Guinea-Bissau’s 2025 general elections, describing voting day in the capital Bissau as calm, orderly and transparent, in line with regional standards for credible polls.

In a preliminary assessment released after a structured deployment to priority polling centres, the Mission led by Ambassador Issufu Baba Braimah Kamara reported that voting operations opened on time, with essential materials in place and accredited party agents visibly present at the stations it visited. Observers noted disciplined queues, a generally peaceful atmosphere and a level of civic responsibility that, in their view, reflected broad public confidence in the process.

Backed by real-time national coverage from long-term and short-term observers spread across the country, the EOM said the conduct of polling staff, security personnel and voters remained consistent with ECOWAS’ benchmarks for democratic elections. These initial findings, the Mission stressed, reinforce the regional bloc’s commitment to safeguarding electoral integrity, promoting stability and ensuring that the final outcome genuinely mirrors the will of the people of Guinea-Bissau.
