Taraba State is in mourning following a devastating road accident that claimed the lives of three senior officials of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Taraba State chapter.
The tragic incident, which left others injured, occurred as the victims were returning to Jalingo from an official function in Abuja.
In response to this heartbreaking loss, the Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved families, the leadership of NULGE, and the people of Taraba State.
The Chairman of the NUJ Taraba State Council, Mathew Eliud Jen, described the loss as a heavy blow, not only to the immediate families of the deceased but to the entire state. “This tragic incident is a great loss not only to the families of the deceased but also to the entire state. We pray that God grants the families of the deceased the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he stated.
Mr. Jen also extended prayers for the quick recovery of those injured in the accident, expressing hopes that they would soon regain their health.
The accident has left a sober mood across the state, particularly among members of NULGE and the broader labor community.
The deceased officials were known for their commitment to grassroots governance and workers’ welfare, making their sudden demise an even greater tragedy.
As the families of the victims and the entire state mourn, the incident serves as a painful reminder of the challenges of road travel in Nigeria and the need for improved road safety measures.
The souls of the departed are mourned, and the hope remains that their legacy of service will not be forgotten.
