President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government, scheduled for February 14–18, 2025.

Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Ethiopian Deputy Chief of Protocol Eshetu Legesse, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, and the Charge d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Ethiopia, Nasir Aminu.
Tuggar later briefed Tinubu on key developments, including Nigeria’s diplomatic victories. Notably, Bankole Adeoye was re-elected as the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security. Additionally, Nigeria retained its seat on the AU Peace and Security Council, reaffirming its leadership role in promoting peace and stability across Africa.
This year’s summit, themed “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations,” will focus on reparatory justice and racial healing. President Tinubu is set to deliver a speech at the AU Peace and Security Council meeting, addressing pressing security concerns, including the escalating conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Beyond security, Tinubu will engage in high-level discussions on health financing, the establishment of an African Credit Rating Agency, and climate change initiatives.
The President is expected to return to Abuja on Monday, February 17.
