As Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Barr. Cosmas Ternenge Akighir, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to advancing development across the region.

In his Independence Day message, Akighir expressed optimism about a future where every community in the North Central zone can thrive. He described the NCDC as a critical driver of sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
Akighir highlighted the recent approval of the Commission’s long-awaited budget by the National Assembly on September 30, 2025, as a major milestone. According to him, the funding will serve as a catalyst for implementing key infrastructure projects and development initiatives aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape of the region.
“This vital funding will accelerate development projects, infrastructure, and initiatives critical to transforming the North Central region,” he said.
He assured the six states in the zone that the NCDC is ready to channel the resources effectively, with a focus on unlocking the region’s potential, improving livelihoods, and fostering lasting peace and progress.
