HARVEST OF EXPERIENCE: APC STALWART HON. HENRY SHAWULU SET TO RECLAIM HOUSE OF REPS SEAT IN 2027 By Raymond Enoch
Across the political landscape of Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency, a renewed wave of anticipation is building as Hon. Henry Mashogwagwara Shawulu positions himself for a return to the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Within the ranks of the All Progressives Congress, Shawulu is increasingly being described as a pillar of experience — a grassroots politician whose past record continues to resonate with constituents years after his first tenure in the National Assembly.
Political observers and community leaders alike point to his time between 2007 and 2011 as a defining period marked by impactful representation. During those years, critical infrastructure received attention, including the maintenance of the Jalingo–Mararaban Apawa–Mayo Belwa highway, a major economic lifeline for the constituency. His interventions extended into education, where classroom blocks were constructed and furnished across multiple communities, improving access to quality learning.
Access to clean water, long a challenge in rural areas, was significantly addressed through the drilling of boreholes in communities such as Kassa, Yakoko, Yonko, and Mile Six Jalingo. Existing water facilities were rehabilitated in places like Pupule and Lamma, restoring essential services to residents. Schools across the constituency also benefited from the provision of computer systems, bridging the digital divide for many young learners.
Electricity infrastructure saw notable expansion, with communities like Kona and Garin Musa connected to the national grid, while transformers were supplied to enhance power distribution. These efforts, many residents say, were practical solutions that directly improved livelihoods.
Beyond physical development, Shawulu’s political approach emphasized people-centered governance. From supporting students with educational needs to empowering constituents and fostering unity through community football competitions, his tenure reflected a blend of development and social cohesion. His outreach during religious festivities, cutting across both Muslim and Christian communities, further strengthened his appeal as a unifying figure.
Today, that legacy is translating into political momentum. Endorsements from key communities, including Kassa and Yorro, have reinforced his standing as a leading contender for the 2027 race. For many constituents, the support is rooted not in rhetoric, but in a track record they have witnessed firsthand.
Stakeholders within the constituency describe Shawulu as a candidate whose experience aligns with current development needs. His background in Geography, Rural Development, and Public Administration is often cited as an added advantage in addressing both urban and rural challenges.
As political activities gradually gather pace, conversations across Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing are increasingly centered on competence, familiarity, and trust. In these discussions, Shawulu’s name continues to feature prominently.
For many voters, the 2027 election is shaping up to be more than a contest — it is a choice between uncertainty and a return to tested leadership. And in that equation, Hon. Henry Mashogwagwara Shawulu appears determined to convert experience into another mandate.
