The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with financial institutions, expressing a firm determination to work closely with banks that are eager to support the state’s development initiatives.

This declaration came during a high-profile courtesy visit by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Mr. Ogbonna Roosevelt, at the TY Danjuma Centre in Jalingo.

In his address, Governor Kefas extended heartfelt condolences to the management and staff of Access Bank on the passing of their Chairman, acknowledging the institution’s remarkable foundation and contribution to the Nigerian banking sector.

He commended the Jalingo branch manager for their exceptional performance, reiterating that the state is open to collaborating with any bank or institution that shares a vision for progress.

Mr. Ogbonna Roosevelt, leading Access Bank’s delegation, highlighted the institution’s status as the largest bank in Nigeria and its pioneering role as the first Nigerian bank to establish operations in Hong Kong. Roosevelt emphasized the bank’s ongoing partnership with the state, citing the positive impact Access Bank has had on the lives of its customers in Taraba.

He reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting the state’s economic growth and development through continued collaboration.

In a related meeting, Governor Kefas also engaged with the Coordinators of various World Bank intervention programs operating in Taraba. During this session, the Governor issued a stern warning that any mismanagement or lack of transparency in the use of intervention funds would lead to immediate disciplinary action or the termination of the program. The meeting then proceeded into a closed-door session to discuss further steps and measures.

Governor Kefas’ proactive approach in strengthening ties with both the banking sector and international development programs underscores his administration’s strategic focus on enhancing Taraba’s economic prospects and ensuring effective use of development resources.
