FRSC Unveils Game-Changing Mobile App: Real-Time Safety Alerts, Licence Renewal, Black Spot Warnings—All in One Tap.
By Raymond Enoch.
In a landmark push to deepen digital transformation and enhance public safety on Nigerian roads, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has officially launched its state-of-the-art mobile application, the FRSC Mobile App—a multifunctional tool designed to revolutionize how Nigerians interact with road safety services.
Described by the Corps as “a life-saving companion for every road user,” the application offers end-to-end access to essential FRSC services, including driver’s licence renewal, number plate verification, real-time speed alerts, crash black spot detection, and live traffic radio streaming.
The application is available for free download on the Google Play Store and has been carefully developed to deliver convenience, accountability, and enhanced road safety to millions of Nigerian motorists, commuters, fleet operators, and logistics companies.
“This is not just an app—it’s a strategic intervention and a life-saving tool,” said Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, while unveiling the app in Abuja. “In an era of smartphones and instant information, ignorance is no longer an excuse for expired documentation or unsafe road behaviour.”
The FRSC Mobile App consolidates several critical safety services into a single user-friendly platform. Among its key features are:
Driver’s Licence Renewal: Road users can now renew their licences remotely, eliminating long queues and reducing human contact.
Verification Services: Users can instantly verify the validity of driver’s licences and vehicle number plates, promoting transparency and reducing fraud.
Real-Time Safety Alerts: The app notifies users of speed limit violations, encouraging safer driving and compliance with national road regulations.
Crash Black Spot Detection: With access to a mapped database of crash-prone zones, users can avoid dangerous routes and plan safer trips.
Live National Traffic Radio Streaming: Users can stream National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM directly from the app to receive up-to-the-minute traffic reports, safety tips, and emergency advisories.
Incident Reporting: The app also allows users to report road obstructions, accidents, and FRSC personnel misconduct, enabling rapid response and increased accountability.
The Corps Marshal emphasized that the new mobile app reflects the agency’s unwavering commitment to leveraging digital innovation to reduce road traffic fatalities and streamline service delivery.
“By bringing FRSC services directly into the hands of Nigerians, we’re removing bureaucratic barriers and ensuring that every road user has the tools to stay compliant and safe,” said Mohammed.
The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s broader push for e-governance and citizen-centered service delivery, while addressing persistent issues such as documentation lapses, unsafe driving behaviours, and real-time traffic emergencies.
Public Call to Action
The FRSC is urging all motorists, passengers, fleet managers, and transport operators to download the mobile app immediately and integrate its use into their daily travels.
“This is not a luxury; it is a necessity,” said the Corps Marshal. “Your safety is your responsibility—and with this app, it’s just a tap away.”
