FRSC Corps Marshal Lauds Officers’ Heroic Service, Assures Nigerians of Safer Roads into New Year By Raymond Enoch

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, mni, has commended officers and men of the Corps for what he described as an exceptional, historic, and selfless performance during the 2025 Christmas travel operations across Nigeria.

In a goodwill address to personnel, the Corps Marshal praised the resilience, professionalism, and uncommon courage displayed by FRSC operatives who worked under intense pressure to manage traffic and safeguard lives during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

He noted that the strategic deployment and tireless interventions of FRSC personnel were instrumental in decongesting major traffic bottlenecks nationwide, particularly the notoriously gridlocked Lokoja axis and other critical transport corridors.

According to Mohammed, FRSC officers demonstrated remarkable discipline and commitment while contending with extended work hours, harsh weather conditions, and unprecedented vehicular volumes. He said their ability to remain professional under such demanding circumstances reflects the Corps’ growing operational readiness and capacity to respond effectively to national mobility challenges.

“The personnel rose beyond the call of duty. They stood firm, worked tirelessly, and delivered results when Nigerians needed them the most,” the Corps Marshal stated, describing their efforts as a reaffirmation of FRSC’s mandate to ensure safer roads and seamless movement across the country.

Beyond traffic management, Mohammed emphasised that the success recorded during the festive period underscores improved coordination, stronger leadership, and enhanced operational efficiency within the Corps. He also paid tribute to officers who remained on duty while others celebrated Christmas with their families, describing such sacrifice as the true essence of service and patriotism.

While acknowledging the achievements recorded, the Corps Marshal urged personnel to sustain the momentum as traffic volumes remain high ahead of the New Year festivities. He charged officers to remain vigilant and continue to uphold the core values of the Corps in order to consolidate the gains made during the Christmas operations.

Reassuring the public, Mohammed affirmed FRSC’s continued resolve to ensure safer highways and hitch-free travel nationwide, stressing that the Corps remains steadfast in its statutory mandate of reducing road crashes, promoting responsible road use, and protecting lives on Nigerian roads.

As millions of Nigerians continue to travel for the Yuletide and New Year celebrations, the FRSC says it remains fully mobilised to sustain road safety enforcement and ensure that festive journeys end safely.
