FAMILY FARMING GLOBAL ACTION: CEED GETS IFAD ENDORSEMENT IN NIGERIA

The Center for Environmental Education and Development ( CEED) a Nigerian Civil Society group gets the endorsement of the international Fund for Agricultural Development ( IFAD), to promote and lead action for the replication of the United Nations Decade for Family Farming (UNDFF) 2019-2028 Global Action Plan by developing National Action Plan ( NAP) for Nigeria 

The endorsement was made on Friday 28th June 2024 in Abuja through the IFAD Country office in Nigeria

According to the letter made available by the CEED Executive Director/ CEO who also doubles as the National Coordinator for the National Committee for Family Farming ( NCFF) in Nigeria reads ” The endorsement is anchored on the request of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS) dated 14th June 2024 to IFAD Nigeria County office for support to the Nigeria National Committee for Family Farming in achieving its strategic objectives” the statement said.

Also it reads ‘ the endorsement is also provided because the project presented by the Nigeria NCFF is in line with the IFAD – Nigeria Country Strategic Opportunity Programme ( COSOP) 2024-2029. In addition, the endorsement is based on the excellent strategic collaboration between Nigeria NCFF and IFAD Country office” 

In holding no objections to Center for Environmental Education and Development CEED Nigeria implementation arrangements for the development of the National Action Plan for the decade ending 2028, the endorsement further reads” We understood that the project is to be implemented by the Center for Environmental Education and Development (;CEED) , an experienced partner of NCFF and do not have any objections to this arrangement ‘

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) had on the 14th of June 2024 in a letter to IFAD accepted its collaboration with NCFF Nigeria on the implementation of the United Nations Decade for Family Farming (UNDFF) Global Action Plan its replication in Nigeria and the development of a NAP initiated by CEED and NCFF Collaboration in Nigeria.
