Executive Chairmen Jalingo LGA ,Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan Celebrates one year in Office with Sterling Achievements

Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan, the executive Chairman of Jalingo local government council Taraba State could best be described as a round peg in a round hole owing to his charisma and ability to administer human and financial resources.

Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan who believes in democratic mandate has continued to put Jalingo local government area on the path of development.

He has not left any one in doubt that he stood for development, peace and unity even among his colleagues and in Jalingo the headquarters of Taraba state.

Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan who was born on June 22, 1964, in Jalingo Local Government Area, Taraba State, Nigeria had a remarkable childhood history.

His educational journey began at Hassan Primary School in Jalingo, followed by Yelwa Government Secondary School in Yola, where he completed both his primary and secondary education.

Driven by an insatiable quest for knowledge, Dr. Jauro pursued various academic endeavours.

He attended the School of Health Technology in Mubi, earning a Certificate in Community Health in 1985. He later obtained a National Diploma in Community Health from the Institute of Health, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Furthering his studies, he enrolled at the Federal University of Technology, Yola, where he achieved a Higher National Diploma in Health Administration in 2007 and a BSc in Community Health in 2014.

His academic journey culminated in a Master’s Degree in Health Economics.

His extensive experience has allowed him to carve out a distinctive niche in his field. He is a seasoned health administrator, a certified Performance-Based Financing (PBF) expert, a human resource manager, a pragmatic leader, and a results-oriented professional capable of multitasking.

Committed to selfless service, Dr. Jauro has held various positions, steadily rising through the ranks of the civil service.

His early career included roles such as working in the Epidemiological Unit at Specialist Hospital, Yola (1987-1989); In-charge of Basic Health Clinic Sunkani (1989-1994); District Health Supervisor (1995-1997); Chief and Principal Community Health Assistant (1991-1993); and Principal Community Health Officer (1996-2003).

He also served as Deputy and Acting Director of Primary Health Care (PHC) from 1997 to 2000, eventually becoming the substantive Director of PHC.

In this capacity, he served in several Local Government Areas across Taraba State, including Sardauna, Ardo-Kola, Lau, Yorro, and Gasol.

Recognized for his dedication, Dr. Jauro was appointed to head the Department of Primary Health Care at the Bureau for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Taraba State, where he served from 2000 to 2015.

His outstanding leadership and commitment led to his appointment by the former Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

Under his leadership, the Agency collaborated with national and international organizations such as the World Bank, NSHIP, CDC-NSTOP, UNICEF, TCI, Marie Stopes, MSF, and the Federal Ministry of Health, significantly improving primary health care delivery across Taraba State.

To further enhance his skills, Dr. Jauro attended Washington University, USA, earning an International Certificate in Leadership Management on Healthcare.

He also obtained an International Certificate on Decentralization as a Tool for Policymakers in Healthcare Services from Harvard University. Additionally, he attended the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in Badagry, Lagos State, to deepen his knowledge of Primary Health Care and Human Resource Management.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jauro has participated in numerous seminars and workshops, both within and outside Nigeria, on topics ranging from Drug Revolving Funds and Accelerated Child Survival and Development (ACSD) by UNICEF to Health System Strengthening (HSS) by FHI 360.

Upon retiring from civil service, Dr. Jauro was appointed Caretaker Chairman of Jalingo Local Government, a role that earned him widespread acclaim. His exemplary leadership led to his election as the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council on November 19, 2023.

Among his peers, he was also elected Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, and later as the National ALGON Welfare Officer.

Dr. Jauro is a member of several reputable professional bodies. He has served as Financial Secretary of the National Forum for PHC Coordinators of Nigeria and as the Organizing/Publicity Secretary of the National Forum of Executive Secretaries and Executive Chairmen of State Primary Healthcare Development Agencies and Boards of Nigeria.
A frequent traveler both locally and internationally.

Dr. Jauro continues to be an influential figure in the healthcare and public service sectors.

It is worth noting that Dr. Jauro’s humanitarian efforts have earned him several awards within Taraba State, Nigeria, and abroad, including traditional titles.

This account only touches the surface of his humanitarian impact, both in private and official capacities. He has provided employment opportunities to countless youths, many of whom are now making positive impacts at various levels.

Additionally, he sponsored numerous students in various institutions of learning and mentors a growing number of youths in his LGA and around the State.

He is no wonder a successful administrator, an astute political officer holder, community mobilizer, a political strategist. An achiever in all ramifications.
