In a landmark appeal aimed at deepening community engagement in security architecture, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+), has issued a clarion call for robust community partnership and collaboration to bolster effective policing within the zone. This was made known during the official groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of the Zone 7 Entrance Gate and the construction of a modern security post—an initiative spearheaded by the Zone 7 Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

In a press statement released shortly after the event, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Halima, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, stated:

“The groundbreaking ceremony represents more than a structural development; it is a symbolic reinforcement of the Police’s resolve to work in close synergy with communities in a people-centric approach to policing. AIG Olaiya commended the proactive engagement of the PCRC and reassured the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, security, and community-led safety frameworks.”

The vibrant occasion, which attracted key dignitaries, stakeholders, and residents, was a celebration of civic partnership and institutional trust. In his keynote remarks, AIG Olaiya praised the PCRC for initiating the project, describing it as “a progressive stride toward improved security infrastructure and community inclusion in law enforcement processes.”

Chief Otunba Bolaji Adigun, Chairman of the PCRC Zone 7, provided a comprehensive overview of the project and stressed its relevance in strengthening the visibility, responsiveness, and operational readiness of police personnel. He noted that the upgraded entrance and security post would serve not only as a physical structure but as a symbol of renewed Police-public confidence.

Several high-profile guests including Hajia Dr. Zainab Maina, former Minister of Women Affairs; Alhaji Haruna Rasheed; and Dr. Rufus Ebegba, Chairman of PCRC FCT Command, delivered goodwill messages highlighting the need for continued investment in police-community dialogue, trust-building, and grassroots security awareness.

The groundbreaking event marks a turning point in Zone 7’s security landscape. It not only sets the foundation for infrastructural development but reaffirms a shared vision among law enforcement officers and community members for a more secure and united society.
