In a swift and coordinated response, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have recovered a stolen Toyota Camry belonging to a staff member of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), just hours after it was reported stolen in an armed robbery.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 10, 2025, when suspected armed robbers invaded the residence of Mr. Aliyu Tijani along Old Police Barracks Road in Lafia. The assailants carted away valuables, including a Toyota Camry with registration number LFA 77 ST.

Acting on the report lodged at B Division, Lafia, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed immediately ordered a statewide manhunt and strategic deployment of intelligence to track the criminals.

The breakthrough came when credible intelligence pointed to the presence of the stolen vehicle in Akwanga. Detectives from Akwanga Division quickly mobilized and stormed the Lagos Park Area. On sensing police presence, the suspects fled, abandoning the stolen vehicle at the scene.

The Toyota Camry was recovered intact and has been secured at the police station pending further investigation. The search for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.

Commissioner Mohammed praised the swift action of the police team and expressed gratitude to the residents of Akwanga for their timely tip-off. He called for continued public cooperation, assuring residents of the Command’s unwavering dedication to safety and swift justice.

“The public is our greatest ally. We urge citizens to report any suspicious movement promptly, and we guarantee confidentiality and protection,” the CP stated.

As the manhunt continues, the Nasarawa State Police Command reiterates its resolve to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure that justice is served.
