Gambian Agriculture Expert Ernest Aubee Joins Board of Directors of African Continental Association for Food Protection.

In a significant recognition of his expertise in agriculture and food security, Mr. Ernest Aubee, a prominent Gambian agriculture expert, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the African Continental Association for Food Protection (ACAFP).

The ACAFP is a vital organization committed to ensuring the production and distribution of safe food across Africa. Through its various initiatives on continental, regional, and national levels, the association works tirelessly to advance food safety, a crucial issue for the health and development of the African continent. Mr. Aubee’s appointment marks a new chapter in his long-standing dedication to improving food security, not just in The Gambia but across Africa.

In addition to his role on the Board of Directors, Mrr. Aubee has also been appointed Co-chair of the Finance and Sponsorship Committee, a key position that will see him play an influential role in securing the resources necessary to fund ACAFP’s vital initiatives.

The President of ACAFP, Professor Joseph Odumeru, expressed his congratulations to Mr. Aubee, praising his wealth of experience and expertise. “We are excited to welcome Mr. Aubee to our Board of Directors. His experience in food and nutrition security, especially during his tenure at the ECOWAS Commission, will be invaluable in furthering our mission and objectives,” Professor Odumeru remarked.

Mr Aubee’s career spans decades of dedicated service, with the most notable chapter being his leadership as the head of the Agriculture Division at the ECOWAS Commission for 14 years. During his tenure, he successfully implemented groundbreaking food and nutrition security programs that have had a lasting impact on the region. He retired in August 2022, but his commitment to improving Africa’s agricultural sector remains unwavering.

Mr Aubee’s appointment to the ACAFP Board is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the growing role of African experts in shaping the future of food security across the continent. With his deep understanding of agriculture, policy, and regional cooperation, his contributions are expected to significantly influence ACAFP’s efforts to ensure the safety and sustainability of Africa’s food systems.
