FRSC Denies False Video Alleging Involvement in Assassination Case.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a public disclaimer regarding a viral video circulating on social media that falsely claims to show the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, commenting on security actions related to the alleged assassination of one Kingsley Ekweme.
In a statement released on April 4, 2025, the FRSC vehemently denied the authenticity of the video, labeling it as misleading and fabricated. The video, which has garnered attention online, was suggested to feature Ogungbemide discussing FRSC’s involvement in the investigation of the alleged assassination. However, the Corps made it clear that no such statement was ever issued by its Public Education Officer.
“The Federal Road Safety Corps does not operate outside its statutory mandate, and the Corps Public Education Officer has not participated in any video or interview concerning this matter,” the statement read. The Corps emphasized that the fabricated video in circulation is entirely without merit, and it has no connection to the tragic incident involving Ekweme.
In response to the growing concern, the FRSC also issued a stern warning against the spread of fake news. “We urge the public to disregard the video and exercise caution when encountering such misleading information,” said Ogungbemide. The Corps reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate and reliable information aligned with its corporate mandate, which centers on road safety, and clarified that it would not hesitate to take legal action against anyone found responsible for spreading false information.
The FRSC’s statement underscores the increasing challenge of navigating the digital space in an era of misinformation. As the public continues to rely heavily on social media for news, the Corps’ call for vigilance and verification resonates in the ongoing fight against false narratives.
For now, the Federal Road Safety Corps maintains that its operations remain focused on ensuring road safety and fulfilling its core mission, distancing itself from any speculation or involvement in cases outside its jurisdiction.
As a final note, the Corps expressed gratitude to the public for their understanding and cooperation as they continue to monitor the situation.
