The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, hosted the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, along with EU Heads of Mission at the ECOWAS Commission Headquarters Abuja Nigeria

The meeting, aimed at strengthening ECOWAS-EU relations, marked a significant step toward enhancing regional integration, democracy, and security.
Dr. Touray welcomed the EU delegation and expressed gratitude for the EU’s ongoing support to ECOWAS, highlighting the shared values of peace and stability.
He emphasized the critical need to preserve the unity of ECOWAS and foster a collaborative partnership with the European Union that is equitable and mutually beneficial.

Ambassador Mignot, in his response, reaffirmed the EU’s dedication to ECOWAS, recognizing the organization as a key strategic partner in West Africa. He underscored the EU’s commitment to strengthening ties with ECOWAS, particularly as the region approaches its 50th anniversary and looks toward the “Summit of the Future,” which holds promise for deepening both political and economic collaboration.
