ACOE Hosts NUJ FCT Leaders, Strengthens Partnership for Ethical Journalism

The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration and ethical journalism during a landmark meeting in Abuja, which saw the unscheduled visit of the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council.

The delegation, led by NUJ FCT Chairman Comrade Grace Ike and her Vice Chairman Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, was warmly received during ACOE’s regular meeting. Their visit marked a significant step towards fostering stronger ties between the two organizations, united under the shared goal of advancing journalistic excellence.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Grace Ike lauded ACOE’s impactful contributions to journalism, emphasizing the association’s role in supporting the NUJ’s mission. She particularly appreciated the congratulatory letter sent by ACOE’s chairman following her election victory, calling the gesture both thoughtful and inspiring.

“I want to commend ACOE for the good work it has been doing and for standing by the NUJ FCT Council. Your congratulatory letter was a kind and motivating gesture. As an NUJ-affiliated body, we urge ACOE to continue promoting balanced, fair, and objective reporting that aligns with the ethics of journalism and fosters accurate reportage,” Comrade Ike said.

She also highlighted the need for synergy between ACOE and the NUJ FCT Council, noting that partnerships are essential for achieving shared goals. “We are always here for you and look forward to working together in 2025 and beyond. Let us see the council as an integral part of your association,” she added.

In response, ACOE Chairman Mr. Martins Odiete expressed gratitude for the visit and underscored the association’s unwavering commitment to the ideals of the NUJ. He acknowledged the vital role of collaboration in advancing the profession and pledged ACOE’s continued support for the council’s initiatives.

“As you rightly noted, all our members are NUJ card-carrying members. We are dedicated to upholding the interests of the NUJ and the principles of ethical journalism. We also plan to pay a courtesy visit to your office to explore further areas of mutual interest,” Mr. Odiete stated.

He concluded by wishing the NUJ FCT leadership a successful tenure and reaffirming ACOE’s readiness to work closely with the council to elevate journalism standards in Nigeria.

The interaction between ACOE and the NUJ FCT Council symbolizes a renewed commitment to collaboration, ethical reporting, and the pursuit of excellence in the media industry. Together, these organizations aim to foster professionalism and credibility in Nigerian journalism.
