President of ECOWAS Commission H. E Omar Alieu Touray, Visits ECOMIG Force Headquarters

In a significant display of commitment to regional stability and collaboration, the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, has paid a landmark visit to the ECOMIG headquarters in Bakau, The Gambia.
The on the spot assessment visit by the ECOWAS President, that underscored the Commission’ unwavering dedication to peace, security, and readiness to achieve it’s mandate.
Dr. Touray, accompanied by senior officials from the ECOWAS Commission, was warmly received by the ECOMIG Force Commander and other top military officials. The visit included a tour of the ECOMIG facilities, a briefing on ECOMIG’s operational achievements, challenges and discussions on the way forward for the mission.
In his address to ECOMIG personnel, Dr. Touray commended their steadfast commitment to fostering peace.Dr. Touray emphasized the importance of strengthening the regional security institutions to ensure a seamless security.
The visit concluded with a ceremonial parade and an interactive session with ECOMIG troops, during which Dr. Touray expressed ECOWAS’ gratitude for their service. He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to supporting regional troops
The visit indicated a strong affirmation of the regional bloc’s dedication to promoting peace and stability in West Africa.
