The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring safer communities as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
The Zone 7 Police Headquarters, which oversees policing operations in the Federal Capital Territory and Niger State, extended its felicitations to the Federal Government and Nigerians, describing the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of peace, security, justice and collective responsibility in sustaining the nation’s progress.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Halima Mohammed, ANIPR, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, the command said Independence Day represents not only a celebration of Nigeria’s freedom but also a renewed call to duty for security agencies and citizens.
The command said it remains committed to preventing and detecting crime, maintaining law and order, safeguarding critical infrastructure and strengthening public confidence in the police.
According to the statement, Zone 7 will continue to deploy professional, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing strategies to respond to emerging security challenges and provide a safe environment for citizens, residents and visitors.
The command also called on Nigerians to regard security as a shared responsibility by remaining vigilant, respecting the law and promptly reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
It cautioned citizens against the spread of misinformation, stressing the need for responsible citizenship and cooperation with security agencies in maintaining peace and public safety.
“Independence Day is also a renewed call to duty,” the command stated, reaffirming its determination to work with communities towards a peaceful and secure Nigeria.
The Zone 7 Police Headquarters urged Nigerians to use the anniversary to renew their commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence and responsible citizenship, noting that a safer Nigeria requires effective policing as well as strong partnerships between the police and the communities they serve.
