FRSC Commends Security Forces Over Swift Benin Toll Gate Response, Orders Immediate Investigation. By Raymond Enoch

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has lauded the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force for their prompt intervention following the recent incident at the Benin Toll Gate, describing their response as “decisive and timely.”

In a statement, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, mni, emphasized that the swift action of the security operatives prevented potential escalation, safeguarding motorists and the toll gate infrastructure. He stressed that such rapid collaboration between agencies is crucial to maintaining public safety and national security.

Reacting to the occurrence, the Corps Marshal directed that a thorough and immediate investigation be conducted to ascertain the cause of the incident and hold responsible parties accountable. The probe, he noted, would ensure lessons are learned and prevent future disruptions at national transport corridors.

This intervention comes amid the FRSC’s ongoing push to strengthen air-maritime and land security synergies, particularly in partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). The Corps Marshal reiterated that integrating identity data with road safety measures remains central to preventing crimes, enhancing accountability, and protecting citizens on the road.

He further highlighted that “collaboration across all security and regulatory agencies is not optional—it is essential for the safety of every Nigerian,” underlining FRSC’s commitment to proactive measures rather than reactive responses.

Motorists and commuters have welcomed the swift action, calling for sustained vigilance to prevent recurrence. FRSC’s stance signals a new era of multi-agency collaboration, blending rapid response with strategic oversight to safeguard Nigeria’s critical transport corridors.
