The Republic of Côte d’Ivoire has set an ambitious and forward-looking diplomatic agenda for 2026, positioning Malta as a pivotal gateway for deeper Euro-African cooperation. In a formal press statement issued in Ħaż Żebbuġ, the Honorary Consul of Côte d’Ivoire to Malta, Mrqs. Anthony C. Coleiro, outlined a comprehensive vision aimed at strengthening bilateral relations while aligning African and European strategic priorities.
Under the banner “Vision 2026: Strengthening Malta–Côte d’Ivoire Relations within a European and African Strategic Framework,” the Consulate’s roadmap emphasizes practical cooperation across diplomacy, education, culture, trade, and investment—anchored in transparency, sustainability, and shared prosperity.
“As we enter 2026, my vision is to support the strategic convergence between European and African priorities through practical cooperation,” Mrqs. Coleiro stated. He highlighted Malta’s unique standing as a European Union Member State and its Mediterranean positioning as a “constructive platform” for advancing EU–Africa partnership objectives and strengthening Côte d’Ivoire’s visibility within Europe.
At the heart of the Vision 2026 agenda is reinforced diplomatic engagement. The Consulate plans to prioritize stronger institutional dialogue between Malta and Côte d’Ivoire, foster collaboration among public authorities, and facilitate structured engagement with European stakeholders. This pragmatic diplomatic posture, the statement notes, is guided by mutual respect and a shared commitment to regional stability, security, and economic opportunity across both the Mediterranean and African regions.
Beyond formal diplomacy, the Consulate underscored the importance of cultural and educational cooperation as long-term drivers of partnership. The Consulate plans to actively promote responsible investment and public–private partnerships in priority sectors including infrastructure, agribusiness, technology, renewable energy, and professional services. According to Mrqs. Coleiro, the objective is clear: to facilitate structured, policy-aligned engagement between investors, entrepreneurs, and institutions that delivers long-term value and economic resilience.
A major highlight of the year ahead will be the African Economic Global Convergence Summit, scheduled for June 2026 in Malta. Building on the success of the 2025 edition held in New York, the Summit will convene African leaders, policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, and global partners to advance dialogue on security, innovation, development, and economic resilience.
The Honorary Consulate views the Summit as a timely multilateral platform to align African Union and European Union stakeholders, attract sustainable investment, and translate dialogue into concrete cooperation. Malta’s role as host further reinforces its reputation as a neutral convening ground and a bridge between Africa, Europe, and international markets.
