FRSC Names Bamigbayan as Corps Marshal’s Principal Staff Officer. By Raymond Enoch

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a key leadership appointment aimed at strengthening coordination and policy execution at the highest level of the organisation, signalling a renewed push for efficiency, systems strengthening and institutional excellence.

The Corps Marshal, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, mni, has approved the appointment of Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Tajudeen Lasun Bamigbayan as the new Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Corps Marshal at the National Headquarters, Abuja, following the statutory retirement of Deputy Corps Marshal Meshack Jatau after years of distinguished service to the nation.

The appointment is widely seen within the Corps as a strategic move anchored on competence, integrity and deep institutional knowledge. ACM Bamigbayan is regarded as one of the most cerebral officers in the FRSC, combining academic brilliance with nearly three decades of operational, administrative and managerial experience across key Commands and departments nationwide.

Born on 3 December 1969 in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State, Bamigbayan joined the Corps in 1996 as an Assistant Route Commander and steadily rose through the ranks, serving in Kano, Taraba, Adamawa, Borno, Anambra and at the National Headquarters. His career has cut across operations, training, public enlightenment, administration and strategic planning, where he consistently distinguished himself with measurable results.

He is particularly celebrated as the intellectual force behind the Corps’ Quality Management System (QMS), having played a pivotal role in institutionalising ISO standards within the FRSC. As Management Representative for ISO implementation, ACM Bamigbayan led the successful transition from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015, culminating in the historic certification and recertification of the Corps in April 2025—an achievement that earned national and international recognition.

An alumnus of the University of Ilorin, where he graduated with a Senate Award as Best Final Year Student, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, the new PSO has also undergone extensive local and international trainings, including advanced ISO courses in Washington DC, USA, and several leadership and governance programmes.

Speaking on the appointment, the Corps Marshal expressed confidence that ACM Bamigbayan will bring added value to strategic coordination and executive support at the highest level of the Corps, describing him as “a tested professional, a systems builder and a worthy standard bearer of the Corps’ vision for efficiency, discipline and service excellence.”

The Corps Marshal also commended the outgoing PSO, Deputy Corps Marshal Meshack Jatau, for his meritorious service and enduring contributions to road safety administration in Nigeria, while congratulating ACM Bamigbayan on his well-deserved appointment and wishing him success in the critical national assignment.
