In recognition of her outstanding humanitarian service and unwavering commitment to advancing the welfare of women and children, Mrs. Anne Marie Steckhan, wife of a German diplomat, has been honoured at the 2025 International Women’s Society (IWS) Nigeria Awards.

The prestigious event celebrated Mrs. Steckhan’s tireless efforts in promoting empowerment initiatives, supporting vulnerable communities, and strengthening social inclusion across Nigeria. Her work has inspired many, particularly in projects that enhance the capacity of women and improve the lives of disadvantaged children.

The International Women’s Society (IWS) Nigeria, a non-profit organization devoted to uplifting women and children, lauded Mrs. Steckhan’s exceptional partnership in driving its key programs. Through various charitable and humanitarian projects, IWS continues to run a skills acquisition centre for women, a day nursery and home for abandoned children, a scholarship scheme for girls, and a Widows Trust Fund that helps widows attain financial independence.

The 2025 IWS Awards highlighted women leaders and advocates whose passion and impact continue to reshape communities and foster hope. Mrs. Steckhan’s recognition reflects a growing synergy between diplomacy and development, bridging cultural collaboration with humanitarian progress.
Her honour, many say, stands as a testament to the power of global goodwill and shared responsibility in building a more inclusive society for women and children in Nigeria.
