In a decisive move toward transforming Nigeria’s power landscape, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday met with a high-powered delegation from Siemens Energy led by Mr. Dietmar Siersdorfer, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, alongside the Deputy Chief of Missions of the German Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Johannes Lehne.

During the meeting held at the State House, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving electricity supply as a cornerstone for national development, industrial growth, and improved livelihoods for citizens.
The engagement marked a renewed momentum in the Nigeria–Germany energy cooperation framework, particularly the Siemens-backed Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) — a flagship programme aimed at modernizing Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure and bridging the country’s longstanding power deficit.

President Tinubu emphasized that reliable energy remains the lifeblood of Nigeria’s economic competitiveness and a fundamental pillar of his Renewed Hope Agenda. He stated that his government is determined to accelerate reforms, ensure transparency, and create a conducive environment for sustainable partnerships with global technology leaders such as Siemens.
Mr. Siersdorfer commended the Nigerian leader’s strategic vision for energy transformation, noting that Siemens stands ready to deploy advanced technology and technical expertise to support the country’s drive toward stable and efficient power delivery. He underscored that the ongoing collaboration would not only enhance power generation and transmission capacity but also catalyze job creation and industrial productivity.
Echoing the commitment of the German government, Mr. Johannes Lehne, the Deputy Chief of Missions, reaffirmed Germany’s continued support for Nigeria’s energy modernization and broader economic partnership. He described the engagement as “a step forward in strengthening the deep-rooted bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany built on mutual trust, technology, and shared prosperity.”
Observers say the renewed partnership between Nigeria and Siemens signals a bold stride toward addressing the nation’s energy challenges, unlocking industrial potential, and positioning Africa’s largest economy as a model for sustainable power reform on the continent.
President Tinubu’s meeting with the Siemens delegation reinforces Nigeria’s determination to deliver reliable electricity to homes and industries — a goal many believe is central to fulfilling his administration’s vision of inclusive growth, economic diversification, and national renewal.
