Strategic talks and firm engagements on the operational mechanisms for implementing the newly launched five-year Strategic Plan of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management (TSBPCM) have commenced in Abuja between officials of the Bureau and the GIZ PeaceCore II Project.

The meeting, which took place at the GIZ PeaceCore II Project office, brought together the Project Team Leader, Ms. Myriam Wedraogo, and senior technical staff who hosted the Chairman of the TSBPCM, His Lordship Bishop Innocent Solomon, alongside members of his delegation.
In his remarks, Bishop Solomon expressed gratitude to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for its steadfast commitment to strengthening peace and resilience in Taraba State.

“Apart from supporting the development of the Bureau’s five-year Strategic Plan, the BMZ has taken practical steps toward realizing the two-year intervention plan, including the approval of office equipment and technical support for the Bureau,” the Chairman noted.
He highlighted key priority areas for implementation such as institutional strengthening and capacity building, conflict prevention and early warning, peace education and community dialogue, and livelihood resilience support. Bishop Solomon also proposed the convening of a technical session to design concrete action steps for effective rollout of the Strategy Plan in Taraba State.
Responding, Ms. Wedraogo, Head of the GIZ PeaceCore II Project, reaffirmed her organization’s readiness to support Taraba State in building a strong and sustainable peace architecture.
“We are delighted to see the Taraba State Peace Bureau evolve into a capable peacebuilding and conflict management agency,” she said, emphasizing the importance of counterpart funding and sustainability measures from the state government.
She commended Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas and stakeholders for their leadership in launching the five-year plan, expressing confidence that the ongoing collaboration will translate into lasting peace and stability across the state.
The five-year Strategic Plan, recently unveiled in Jalingo by Governor Kefas, is a comprehensive framework designed to guide conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and livelihood resilience interventions in Taraba State.
