In a bold show of leadership and collaborative vision, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+), took center stage as the Special Guest at the high-profile Joint Security and Forensic Conference/Book Launch, organized by none other than HRH Erelu Okin, Dr. Pearl Chidinma Ogbulu.
The event, which unfolded with remarkable precision and intellectual vibrancy, brought together a rare assemblage of Nigeria’s finest minds in forensics, fraud investigation, and strategic security management. The gathering served not only as a launchpad for a new literary contribution to the field but also as a melting pot of cross-sector expertise and innovation focused on reshaping national security architecture.
Held in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, the conference tackled the ever-evolving landscape of crime in Nigeria, and emphasized a multi-dimensional approach to national security through the fusion of forensic science, inter-agency collaboration, and proactive crime prevention strategies.
AIG Olaiya, delivering a keynote remark that drew widespread commendation, described the event as “an insightful and timely intervention at a critical juncture in Nigeria’s security evolution.”
“Security is no longer the exclusive domain of uniformed officers. We are in an era where forensic experts, data analysts, psychologists, and cybercrime professionals must work in synergy to secure lives and property,” Olaiya declared to an audience of top-tier security professionals, forensic analysts, researchers, and media stakeholders.
The AIG emphasized the necessity for cooperative intelligence-sharing among all security stakeholders, highlighting how such synergy could drastically enhance the fight against organized crime, cyber threats, and transnational criminal networks.
He further commended Dr. Ogbulu’s visionary leadership in creating a platform that bridges the gap between theoretical forensic science and on-the-ground law enforcement needs. “It is conferences like this that fuel the kind of knowledge transfer we need in this country to outpace criminals who are becoming more sophisticated by the day,” he noted.
The conference also featured the unveiling of a cutting-edge book authored by Dr. Pearl Chidinma Ogbulu, which delves deep into the interplay of forensic investigation and modern security frameworks. Attendees described the book as “an indispensable reference tool” for practitioners, law enforcement officers, and policymakers alike.
Zone 7 Police Command’s involvement at the event signals a pivotal shift in how the Nigeria Police Force is positioning itself as both a peacekeeping body and a dynamic player in the 21st-century crime-fighting ecosystem. Under the leadership of AIG Olaiya, Zone 7 continues to blaze trails in intelligence-led policing, community engagement, and now—enhanced forensic collaboration.
The event concluded with renewed calls for investment in forensic education, tighter legal frameworks to support forensic evidence in courts, and more inclusive partnerships between government and private forensic institutions.
As stakeholders dispersed with fresh insights and fortified networks, the message was clear: Nigeria’s security future depends not just on boots on the ground, but brains in the lab.
