The District Head of Gewana Chief .Dr Agoso H. Bamaiyi of Adamawa State has said that they are committed to building an enduring peace so farmers and herders can co-habit and live together in harmony.
The District Head dropped this hint at Abuja ,FCT while speaking as Key Note Speaker at the Media Retreat on ‘ Media Practice and the Farner -Herder Conflict in Nigeria organized by Search for Common Ground , IOM and Mercy Corps for Journalist from Adamawa and Taraba States
Chief Agoso harped on the historical relationship that existed between farmers and herders, stressed the need for the use of traditional mediation methods in resolving conflicts between farmers and herders
Chief Dr Agoso Bamaiyi said that there is a dynamic relationship between farmers and herders that have been historical , adding that both need each other and therefore living together is the most needed thing to do devoid of the rancour we see today.
He emphasized the urgency to use traditional mediation methods in resolving conflicts between farmers and herders
As an active member of the forum for herders and farmers relations in Adamawa state, he called for the modernization of Agriculture and institutionalization of Peace building structures in both states so that conflicts can be deescalated and managed at all times.
