The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has secured a major national victory as its representative, Daniel Falodun, emerged champion of the 2025 Nigeria Cape Town Convention (CTC) Moot Court Competition, outperforming finalist Eloho Tolulope Okandeji of the University of Benin in a gripping finale.

The high-stakes final round—marked by intense legal argumentation and courtroom brilliance—took place on November 12, 2025, at the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja. The event was organized by the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in partnership with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Aviation Working Group (AWG).

This year’s competition drew participation from 18 universities across Nigeria, each engaging in structured courtroom simulations designed to deepen understanding of the Cape Town Convention, one of the world’s most significant instruments governing aircraft leasing, financing, and cross-border repossession.

According to the organizers, the initiative reinforces Nigeria’s push to strengthen legal expertise within the aviation sector by equipping young lawyers with practical skills in advocacy, legal research, and financial structuring.

The national moot continues to serve as a vital platform bridging academic learning with real-world aviation law practice—preparing the next generation of specialists to navigate the complex intersections of law and global aviation finance.
