In a heartfelt Eid al-Adha message, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has called on Nigerians and the global Muslim Ummah to embrace the values of peace, sacrifice, and national renewal.

The Minister’s message, released in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, underscored the spiritual significance of Eid al-Adha—a time rooted in reflection and selflessness, inspired by the faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“Eid al-Adha is a moment to reflect deeply on the values of obedience, resilience, and sacrifice. These virtues are not just personal ideals, but the foundation upon which peaceful and just societies are built,” Ambassador Tuggar stated.

The Minister urged Muslims to use the season to pray for peace, not only in Nigeria but across the globe, particularly in conflict-stricken regions such as Gaza, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

At home, Ambassador Tuggar expressed solidarity with internally displaced persons (IDPs) and offered his prayers for their healing and rehabilitation. He also extended condolences to the people of Mokwa, Niger State, following the devastating May 28 floods that claimed lives and destroyed homes. He called on Nigerians to rally around affected communities and support humanitarian efforts.

Paying tribute to Nigeria’s security and frontline officers, the Minister lauded their courage and continued service to national peace and security, describing them as a source of collective inspiration.

“As we celebrate this sacred festival, let us recommit ourselves to our shared humanity and unity of purpose,” the statement read. Ambassador Tuggar further reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Nigeria’s interests on the global stage through principled and proactive diplomacy.
