Stanford to Honour Dr Bensouda With Ralston Prize. By Raymond Enoch

In a landmark moment for international justice, Fatou Bensouda — former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and current Gambian High Commissioner to the UK — will receive the prestigious Ralston Prize in International Law from Stanford Law School. The award ceremony and accompanying Ralston Lecture will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 6:00 PM, at the Moot Court of the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London.

The recognition celebrates Bensouda’s decades of trail-blazing work in advancing international criminal justice — from prosecuting war crimes under the Rome Statute to giving voice to victims of atrocities across continents. During the lecture, she will reflect on “the promise of, and the challenges facing, the quest for international justice in today’s world.”

Bensouda has long been regarded as a pioneering force in global justice — notably as the first woman to lead the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor. Her record includes major investigations and prosecutions of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes affecting children and vulnerable populations.

As global tensions and human rights crises continue to rise, this honour is not just a personal accolade — it underscores a renewed commitment by leading legal institutions to uphold the rule of law at a time when many feel it is under threat.
