The President of the Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA), Hajiya Dr. Nafisa Shehu Mohammed, has expressed profound5 condolences to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the tragic loss of six of its members in a fatal road traffic crash, while also commiserating with the families of two other victims who lost their lives in the incident involving renowned international sports icon, Anthony Joshua.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Dr. Nafisa described the loss as heartbreaking, extending ROSOWA’s solidarity to the NUJ leadership and bereaved families at this difficult time. She also wished Anthony Joshua a speedy and full recovery.

Commending the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the ROSOWA President praised the officers’ swift, professional and courageous response at the crash scene, particularly their prompt rescue of the sports icon and effective management of traffic and safety operations.

According to her, the timely deployment and efficient rescue efforts demonstrated a high level of preparedness, discipline and dedication to the FRSC’s core mandate of saving lives. She noted that the officers’ conduct ensured effective traffic control, prevented further danger to other road users and facilitated prompt medical attention where required.

Dr. Nafisa further expressed delight at the overwhelming positive feedback from members of the public, both locally and internationally, describing the reactions as a strong endorsement of the professionalism, responsiveness and life-saving capacity of FRSC personnel.

Emphasising the often-unseen sacrifices made by road safety officers and their families, she assured FRSC personnel of ROSOWA’s continued support. She also urged motorists to obey traffic regulations—especially speed limits—stressing that responsible driving remains critical to preventing avoidable road crashes.
