President Barrow Engages Development Partners, Advances Vision for The Gambia’s Growth Agenda By Raymond Enoch
On the margins of the inauguration of Lot 2 of the University of The Gambia (UTG) Faraba Banta Campus,today, His Excellency President Adama Barrow held high-level bilateral talks with representatives of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), reinforcing The Gambia’s strategic development partnerships agenda.
The meeting, held at the UTG campus, centered on infrastructure development, priority investment areas, and shared economic concerns impacting Gambians, while charting practical pathways to further strengthen the long-standing cooperation between The Gambia and the two multilateral financial institutions.
President Barrow expressed deep appreciation to BADEA and the IsDB for their sustained support over the years, describing infrastructure as the backbone of national development and a critical catalyst in The Gambia’s drive toward middle-income status. He emphasized that targeted investments in education, transport, and productive sectors remain central to his administration’s development agenda.
Commending BADEA’s Trade Financing Facility, the President noted its positive impact on stabilising the prices of essential commodities and easing economic pressure on citizens. He formally appealed for continued and expanded support to consolidate these gains and bolster the country’s economic resilience amid global uncertainties.
Sharing his broader vision for The Gambia’s future, President Barrow urged both BADEA and the IsDB to deepen their engagement through transformative, people-centered projects capable of accelerating inclusive growth, strengthening institutions, and delivering tangible benefits across the country.
The engagement underscored the Government’s commitment to leveraging strategic partnerships to drive sustainable development and reaffirmed the confidence of key international partners in The Gambia’s reform and growth trajectory.
